“Malayalee from India” offers a spirited yet somewhat confusing cinematic experience, where Nivin Pauly’s charismatic portrayal of Gopi, a carefree wanderer in a quaint Kerala village. Pauly injects energy and charm into his character, particularly in comedic moments alongside Dhyan Sreenivasan’s Malgosh, Gopi’s friend who shares similar beliefs and ideologies. Sreenivasan contributes to the film’s vitality with his comedic timing, adding lightheartedness to the narrative. Deepak Jethi’s portrayal of a Pakistani character alongside Pauly brings moments of genuine emotion to certain scenes, providing depth to the story. Directed by Dijo Jose Antony, the film travels through various themes, including comedy, political satire, and social messaging. However, it struggles to find a harmonious balance, resulting in a somewhat disjointed storyline. The script’s erratic shifts between genres and themes hinder its coherence, despite occasional flashes of brilliance.
